A unique location in Denmark with a rich cultural and natural history!
Just 20 kilometres from our campsite, one of North Jutland’s most spectacular natural experiences awaits you: Rubjerg Knude – the great migrating sand dune – and the iconic Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse, dramatically perched above the sea.
Rubjerg Knude is a place where you can truly feel the power of nature. For decades, wind and sea have shifted the sand, worn away the coastline, and slowly reshaped the landscape. The most famous witness to this natural transformation is the Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse, built in 1900 and decommissioned in 1968 due to encroaching sand. In 2019, the lighthouse was spectacularly moved 70 metres inland to save it from falling into the sea. Today, it still stands proudly, welcoming visitors with one of the most stunning views on Denmark’s west coast.
Whether you follow the trails through the dune landscape, climb the lighthouse to enjoy the view of the North Sea, or simply take in the silence and majesty of nature – a visit to Rubjerg Knude is an unforgettable experience.
From Løkken Klit Camping & Cottage Village, Rubjerg Knude is easy to reach – by car, by bike, or as part of a longer hike along the coast. It’s a perfect day trip for the whole family.
